CODES OF GENDER

In class we watched a documentary called the codes of  gender. This film explores the stereotypes of masculinity and femininity, though advertising. There is a deep dive into the various poses that men and woman do in advertising and what these poses tell us about our society and what we view as normal for each gender.

When the roles are reversed it may seem odd. For example if  where to pose in a "feminine"  way than they would be considered less than a man, or a homosexual.

The documentary also mentions how gender could be a social-construct, because each person tries to behave like the gender they where assigned at birth. once a person may not fit the ideal way their gender would behave than people would be ostracized.
